JOB DESCRIPTION
This is an unpaid internship. We are searching for a Technical Writer who will be responsible for writing code documentation and the instruction manual process. The Technical Writer is also expected to be skilled at writing for technical and non-technical audiences . Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also critical to success in this role. The length of this role is 6 to 9 months with the possibility of a full-time position based on performance, job requirements, and availability of the selected candidate.

THIS POSITION WILL ENTAIL:
  • Work with department managers to gather information to develop and write instruction manuals

  • Identify and recommend improvements to current documentation templates and processes to further enhance quality and timely delivery

  • Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted documentation

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven

  • Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills

  • Able to effectively communicate

  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools to create documentation

  • Previous software development experience

  • Understanding of the systems development life cycle

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduated or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in the technology or software industry.

  • Strong proficiency in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, and API documentation.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or Microsoft Word.

  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance testers.

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to a non-technical audience.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
