JOB DESCRIPTION
This is an unpaid internship. We are excited to offer a Data Scientist Analyst Internship for a talented and motivated individual who is passionate about leveraging data to drive insights and solutions. As a Data Scientist Analyst Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our data science team, gain hands-on experience in data analysis and machine learning techniques, and contribute to real-world projects that impact our business and customers.

THIS POSITION WILL ENTAIL:
  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing large datasets from various sources for analysis and modeling purposes.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to develop and implement data-driven models and algorithms to solve business problems and optimize processes.

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and apply statistical techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and correlations in data sets.

  • Develop and test predictive models using machine learning algorithms such as regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning.

  • Evaluate model performance, perform feature engineering, and iterate on models to improve accuracy and reliability.

  • Create data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate findings and insights to stakeholders.

  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge sharing activities to enhance your skills and contribute to project success.

  • Learn and utilize data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and data manipulation libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).

  • Other Duties as Assigned.

DESIRED SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong programming skills and familiarity with data science libraries and tools (e.g., Python, R, Jupyter Notebooks, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

  • Basic knowledge of data analysis, statistics, and machine learning concepts.

  • Proficiency in data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing techniques.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Prior internship or coursework related to data science, machine learning, or analytics is a plus but not required.

  • Experience solving real problems using data mining techniques and with statistical rigor.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of Computer languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters, Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, bioinformatics)

  • Prior experience with standard ML models: Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, Neural Networks, and Hidden Markov Models

  • Experience implementing a real-world Recommender or Ranking system

  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services

  • Implemented multi-core/distributed software, preferably in a Linux environment
